took my son to the beach the other day where we encountered an old friend of mine from a previous trip to the same beach one night in july..
Also, we saw a seal, which was very cool. I realized then that i really DO need a big-ass telephoto lens, for just such occasions…
The photos i did take show a dot, that, with a fair stretch of the imagination, can almost certainly be the head of a seal. You’ll just have to take my word for it.
you do need a lens. but you also need somebody to carry it!

the cat is sooooo cute!! no wonder your son was bugging you to bring it home 
then again, after reading about your earlier encounter with the cat, it would be a bit weird to do so ;p

Its definetly a seal. I took a picture of one in the harbour here during lunchbreak about a year ago..
lol..I have a dolphin picture that is worst than that! lol..but I swear! That little black dot, it was a dolphin!

I really like the way some cats let themselves be picked up, and just hang there in an obviously uncomfortable way.
LOVE the seal photo! Sure, you might not be able to tell it’s a seal, but the water is sooooo calm and broken by the seal looking around. Very cool actually!
The seal pic is much clearer thqan anything I;ve seen of nessy…so it is identifiable as a seal. : ) I’m sure you’ll get another one sometime soon.
The cat…he resembles a cat named Timothy whom used to live with me in New England…check to see if he has six toes on each front paw for me next time you see him….weird.
The seal picture in the sea of blue is beautiful, even if you can’t tell it’s a seal. I once took some pictures of a group of hawks circling overhead in on a grey winter day in Maine. It was so beautiful in person but it looked like black dots in a sea of grey when the pictures were developed. Your blue sea is still very beautiful with a nice horizon. You cats will always have the memory of the seal, even if you didn’t quite get the photo of him
